BENNETT, Percival William-Peacefully in his 90th year, at North York Extendicare, on Thursday, April 10, 2003, after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband and best friend of Grace Bennett (nee MacPhee) of Thornhill, Ontario. Loving, kind and considerate father of Paul (Dianne Brown) of Westmount, Quebec and Stephen (Joanne Dunlevy) of Innisfil, Ontario. Caring grandfather of Kelly and Blair, Elaine and Laurie. He will also be sadly missed by his sister Doris George of Thornhill, Ontario and brother Daniel Glen of Kirkfield, Ontario. Predeceased by his fathers Thomas Henry Bennett and Daniel Glen and his mother Catherine Glen of Toronto and his brother Thomas Bennett of Willowdale, Ontario. Born in Toronto on December 22, 1913, he served in the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1945. He devoted his life to the service of others. Active and longtime member of Lions Club International and a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award (1996) for 'dedicated humanitarian services'. Former Secretary of the Toronto Old Timers' Baseball Association and faithful Blue Jays fan. A loyal member and former elder of Thornhill United Church from 1961 to the present. Family and friends will be received at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, 2 blocks south of Steeles Avenue), on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 1-3 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral home on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 3 p.m. with interment to follow at Elgin Mills Cemetery.
