Obituary of Diana Elisabetta Castellarin
Passed away in her 93rd year at Villa Colombo Home for the Aged on November 18, 2019. She was born on February 21, 1927 in San Lorenzo (PN), Italy. Diana will be missed by her children Evelyn (Francesco) and Glenn (Patricia), her grandchildren Deanna (Paul), Francesca, and John, and her brother Berto (Gina).
She is pre-deceased by her husband Celso and her parents Andrea and Evelina Bertoia.
Diana and Celso were married in October 1949 and began their new adventure by moving to the mountains of British Columbia. Celso worked for a coal mine while Diana tended to the home which was visited by wild deer. She never forgot the cold mountain days and happily trekked by train across Canada to Toronto. They were married 45 years most of which was spent raising a family and caring for grandchildren in the Dufferin Street and Lawrence Avenue area.
She will be remembered as a devoted grandmother who selflessly put the needs of others first and for being an extraordinary cook.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church 811 Lawrence Ave West, North York on Monday November 25, 2019 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Villa Colombo Home For The Aged for their care and support.
