Obituary of Matthew Chisholm

Matthew passed away at the age of 40 on August 1, 2018. Matthew was predeceased by his partner and love of his life, Jake Freeman.  He leaves behind his mother, Ruth and father, Gordon, his two brothers Graeme and Neil, his aunts Margaret (Charles), Patricia, Christine, and Margaret (in Texas), as well as  many cousins, including Katie with whom he was especially close.  Matthew will be sorely missed by his many friends.  He was President of the Esperanto Society of Toronto and was an active member in the Gaelic Society of Toronto. Matthew was a gifted linguist. He was fluent in English, French, Esperanto, and was learning Gaelic with great interest. Matthew was a talented singer, ranging from treble as a child to bass. Throughout his life, music was one of his great passions. He worked for the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in the Environmental Assessment and Permissions Branch as a Bilingual Application Assessment Officer. A funeral service will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Sunday, August 12, 2021 at 1pm, with visitation from 12 – 1 pm.
