Barbara "Joan" Williams, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, surrounded by her loving children.
Joan was born on July 14, 1934 in Belleville Ontario, into the Faulkner family that was filled with sports, music, hard work and lots of fun. She is predeceased by her older brother Lloyd Faulkner and younger sister Jean Sprackett. They enjoyed a close loving relationship.
Joan married her dear love "Bud" Clarence Herman Williams in 1954. Together they served faithfully in ministry all over Canada, including Moncton, Halifax, Hamilton and Toronto. Joan was a thoughtful and intentional teacher, reminding her students of their value in addition to teaching them practical lessons. As a result of a back condition that left her bedridden for different periods of time, she gained a love for worship that carried her through the rest of her days. Over her years, she led worship passionately, with no desire for performance or recognition. Even throughout her latter years when she suffered the disease of dementia, her love for the Lord, her desire to bear His presence and to love on people shone through right until the end.
Joan loved people so well and always held her family as her highest priority. She loved to laugh and poke fun at herself. Her face lit up any time she saw a chocolate bar! Above all else, her pure heart for Jesus was an example to us all.
She is survived by her son, Glen Williams, daughter, Debra James (David), grandchildren, "the boys" Matthew and Daniel Williams, "the girls" Jennifer Johnson (Adesina) and Christina Heath (Gregory), and her great-granddaughter Hope.
We are comforted by the knowledge that she is in the arms of her loving Saviour, forever doing her favourite thing - worshipping.
A private family funeral service will be held in her honour.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Teen Challenge Ontario Women's Centre.
