Obituary of Antonio (Tony) Gutierrez

Antonio Fortin Gutierrez, age 79, peacefully passed away on Friday June 8, 2018 at Mackenzie Health Hospital. He is the beloved husband of Norma Gutierrez with whom he shared forty six wonderful years of marriage.

Antonio was born on March 20, 1939 at San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines. He was the son of Anastacio and Maria Paz Gutierrez and eldest brother to eight siblings. After graduating at Feati University for Marine Engineering, Antonio worked as 4th engineer for Texaco from 1973-90, then worked for the City of Toronto at the Ferries and Water Transplant from 1990 to 2000.

Antonio was a valuable member of the Philippine Heritage Band as one of the initial colour guards. He is also a close brother in Christ as part of the Marriage Encounter Class #12 of Toronto’s Bukas Loob sa Diyos (Open Hearted to God) Prayer Group.

Antonio will be most remembered for being an all-around-active handy man in the house for his family and the community. Although he was a man of few words, his heart was abundant with love and full of generosity.

Antonio is survived by his wife Norma, his Children Harold and Beth, Donna and Jerry, and his Grandchildren Jon Tyrol, Rodon James, Kitana Ciara, Jazzlyn Dulce, and Jordyn Davina.
