Obituary of Gloria Chin
One of God’s strong and elder Angel has now flown home as her work here is done. She received a “tweet” with an offer which she couldn’t refuse.
It came with an added bonus, a re-union with family and friends she has not seen in a very, very long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be praying, cooking up a storm, gardening and looking out for the little ones to her heart’s content.
“Mama Chinny” as she is affectionately known has passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children, grand-children and great-grand-children by her bedside praying her favourite prayers, Sacred Heart Chaplet and Divine Mercy on Wednesday May 30th, 2018 at the tender age of 95.
Mama Chinny is pre-deceased by her husband Hector and survived by her children, Joseph, Judith, Betty and Maria. Grand-children Shelly, Christine (deceased), Mark, Tricia, Dickisha, Simon and Robyn. Great-grand-children, Brandon (deceased), Daryn, Monique, Zak, Malaika, Lilee, Mark-Anthony, Tyler, Noah and Aleeyah.
Mama Chinny was born in Ventanas, Ecuador on November, 5th 1922, then went to China to learn her father’s heritage and language. She met and married Hector while in China and then returned with Him to his homeland in Jamaica. Shortly after, Mama Chinny gave birth to four beautiful children. During her retirement she nurtured grand-children who she accompanied to Canada when the family emigrated. Mama lives on not just in memory, but in her family and friends.
Mama Chinny’s mantra , “One life to live”. She encouraged us to live life to the fullest, cherishing each moment in the presence of God.
One life to live Mama – may you rest in peace.
Eternal rest grant unto Mama O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her, may her soul rest in peace. Amen.
The family asks if you could please incorporate Mama’s favourite colour pink in your ensemble for the day of the service.
