Melissa Quan

Obituary of Melissa Quan

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved Melissa Quan on Monday, May 14th, 2018 in Toronto at the age of 39.  She was the cherished daughter of Ron Quan and Salvacion Quan (deceased, nee Curammeng) and loving stepdaughter to Myrna (Velasco-Quan). Predeceased by her devoted grandmother Edna Quan. Loving partner of Derek Bartoschek, niece to Elena (Quan-Musto), Sharon (Quan-McGimpsey) and cousin to Amanda, Charles (Musto) and D’Arcy (Quan-McGimpsey) and stepsister to Daniel, Sasha and Emma (Michael). She was loved by relatives and friends who span the globe.

Melissa was a bright, fun-loving and avid child at heart who could light up a room and make people laugh. While her athleticism was not always evident in her freeze frame leaps in the air with her cousins and friends, she had the skill to write documents and letters like no other, and, she had the dry and witty humour of her parents (her mother at least). She worked dilligently in her job as a senior consultant in policy making in the Ontario provincial government for over 12 years. Some of her favourite activities included socializing with her vast network of friends, dining out, cheering on the Leafs and Blue Jays, playing poker, video games and board games, spending time with her partner, and traveling. She will always be remembered with great fondness and missed by all.

Her family will receive friends at the RS Kane Funeral Home 6150 Yonge St, North York from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, May 22 for the visitation, and 10 am on Wednesday, May 23 for funeral mass at St. Luke's Catholic Church at 39 Green Lane in Thornhill followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill.  Reception at a location to be determined will follow.
